Whatever the service, I pass on my knowledge, my know-how. I adapt intellectual and practical tools, tips, to each situation, each family. I demonstrate and support you in the practice.
Indeed, I could get the dog to behave as expected, to assess his environment and react to it differently, to perceive the world with more serenity. But who lives with him ? You do.
My job is therefore to provide you with the means to set up contexts that will improve your daily life for all.
Let’s imagine that the tools I give you are keys and your relationship with your dog is a house. I bring you the keys, show you how I put them in the lock, explain to you why I insert them in this or that way, give them to you, stay with you as you try them, and are at your disposal later on if necessary. However, you do live in this house ; so it’s up to you to get in there, develop it, decorate it.
After the consultations, I send you a report in which I reiterate my advice and how to apply it. When I come back for other courses, I will deepen some aspects with you and/or give you other keys.
Between the consultation and a course, or between a course and another course, I often give you exercises to apply. According to Larousse.fr, one of the definitions of the word "exercise" is : “specially structured, adapted activity, which helps develop someone's skills in a field”. Even though you understand and are able to put into practice what I advised you, the more you practice, the more you will master those skills. But above all, you are not alone for these exercises ! Doggy's here. Your "home" welcomes another being, one who does not work like you do, does not express himself like you do, does not decode the world like you do. So it's not just a matter of practicing yourself, but of maintaining the exchange between your dog and you.
Even though your dog does not call me to tell me what happens between several courses, the lack of automatisms (whether from you or from your dog), dust on some tools, or the fact that they are not taken out of their packaging, the impossibility of explaining what was exercised, in fact, several signals are likely to demonstrate when the exercises are not done.
Inasmuch as I am available for questions outside of the appointments and can therefore readjust as needed according to your context, or as courses can be scheduled to review and/or deepen some skills, I often wonder about the motivations to involve me not to invest in the future in the end. If you communicate with me, I can see the evolution and readjust accordingly. To use the metaphor of the house, how to live in a house if I give you keys but you don't use them ?
Why do I consider it does matter ? Your relationship with your dog is nourished by the exchanges you have on a daily basis. Knowing that our dog friends learn from us seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, I suggest that the exercises guarantee how they are trained. In addition, the more you will persist, will be consistent and constant in your practice, the more the information your dog will receive can be treated by him with diligence.
I will end with two analogies I like using : do you brush your teeth only when you go to the dentist ? Do you learn to drive only when you have to drive your wife whose water just broke ? No ? Why ?
