Why is the first appointment not enough for all dogs ?

The interest of the first appointment
Depending on where you live, I will meet you either at your home or remotely. We then take stock of your situation as a whole: the household, its composition, your living environment, your lifestyle, your expectations, your dog, his health, his communication, his emotional state, his skills.
From the information you have given me, from the observations I have made, I offer you several strategies, several techniques, several exercises, several tips to implement. For some, I show you a short demonstration, or even have you test it.
Then what ?
If I have doubts about your dog's health
I will first invite you to see a veterinarian, or even a behavioral veterinarian. Sometimes, certain illnesses, certain pains, certain dysfunctions, are at the origin of behavioral disorders. Whether they are occasional or chronic, only a veterinarian is able to support you.
If your dog's health has influence over the behavioral disorders without generating them
I then collaborate with the veterinarian and carry out regular follow-ups with him for any adjustments he may consider necessary.
My guidance may be essential
Depending on the issue you are calling me about, specific actions need to be taken, precise timing needs to be set, a specific distance needs to be considered. None of this can be improvised. It is not the demonstration, nor even your grasp of a few movements during our first meeting, that are enough to make you able to modify behaviors, to restructure your dog's perceptions. Some behavioral disorders require careful observation, a concise adjustment. It is not because I tell you "send a treat near your dog when he eats" while he is ready to attack, that this sentence is a complete guide to solving the problem.
Very often, there are also additional exercises to do in order to improve your dog's skills. When you learn to swim, you may not be aware of it, but several skills make you a swimmer: moving your arms, moving your legs, floating, breathing, being comfortable in the water, being comfortable where your feet no longer have support. For your dog, it is the same. A situation can have several aspects. By equipping your dog with various skills, he will be better able to cope and move on.

If you call on me, it is to be sure that you follow through my advice, my strategies, my techniques, which will help you in the long term. Even if you do not intend to become a dog specialist, without my support with you, without supervised work, I cannot guarantee the exercises that you carry out.
